November is a long way off, but I’ve been making plans to participate yet again. I think the reason I won’t be talking about it so much is that I have talked a big game in the past only to barely make the 10,000 mark.
For those who are not in the know, NANOWRIMO, or National Novel Writing Month is a special event during the month of November whereby the goal is to write 50,000 words. Published authors have lambasted this concept as 50,000 words is more of a novella than a novel. Non-Writers like to throw their two cents in and one such thread on Nano is full of their comments.
The main thing to remember is that aside from a certificate that you can print out and show your friends, the real prize is the 50,000 words you now have to work with.
This year I am working on the outline and planning out the character bios and such. But this will be all I say on the matter until the month of November, where I will keep people abreast of my word count.
